Jukebox Cafe - our history

Barry & Kim Armstrong bought the business in the summer of 2010.  The Jukebox Café, as it is now called, was formally known as “Sonia’s Café”.

Retaining much of its original eclectic décor, bric-a-brac, signs, and film posters, Barry, being a big fan of “the Reds”, has added Forest football memorabilia to one of the walls.  There’s also (as might be expected from the name of the café), a retro 1960’s working jukebox complete with discs from Barry’s personal record collection of 60’s, 70’s and 80’s… and it’s free-to-play of course!

With a staff of four, the latest recruit is a parrot called Forest, named after Barry’s love for Nottingham Forest Football Club.  “Forest” is still learning to talk, so he doesn’t speak as yet, but as soon as he does, customers old and new are sure to be given a warm verbal welcome,.  However, the owners and staff of the Jukebox Cafe are not responsible for any foul-mouthed or rude suggestive comments that may be made by Forest, the mischievous African Grey...when he makes in in to work, that is!

Jukebox Cafe - award-winning

In March 2011, the Jukebox Café was awarded the “Best Builders Full English” breakfast in the Midland’s and North accolade by Magnet Trade, the kitchen and home fixtures suppliers.

"Magnet Trade is very big with small, local builders" said Nottingham manager Michael Deeny, "so this sits nicely with our philosophy of looking after small, local builders.  We're all in this together."
